November 2018 Happenings

11/30/2018  Sunshine City Kiwanis meeting with Jack Shanks, director of volunteer services for Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County. Jack is a retired marine who was looking for a service opportunity when he found Habitat and jumped in with both feet. Habitat has 15 homes currently under construction. Changing lives is what they are all about. Getting people out of bad situations is a key goal. Jack explained how the program works, especially the need for volunteers.
11/30/2018  Kenny Alderman formally inducts our newest member : Kathy McDonald.  Kathy is a retired school teacher and friend to our other newest member, Holly Suddath. Looking for ways to volunteer and also help kids - Kathy and Kiwanis are a perfect match!
11/16/2018   Sunshine City Kiwanis meeting with Art Howe and his wife, Becky, local beekeepers. They have three apiaries and have a company that does bee removal and relocation, hive maintenance, honey collection and sales and more. Art and Becky gave us a lot of info. Who knew there are over 150 beekeepers with hives in Pinellas County?
11/2/2018  Kenny Alderman formally inducts Holly Suddath into club membership.  Holly is a respiratory therapist dealing with the sickest of the sick. Welcome Holly!
11/2/2018  Sunshine City Kiwanis meeting with Robin Davidov from the League of Women Voters talking about and explaining the many amendments on the current ballot.
