Sunshine City Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship

Key Club Scholarship Application Guidelines & Information

1. The Kiwanis Club of Sunshine City currently sponsors Key Clubs at Lakewood High School and Osceola High School. One scholarship of $1000 will be presented to a graduating senior at each school. The recipient must be a Key Club member in good standing to be eligible.
2. The scholarship may be renewed three times for a total of $4000 while the student is enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school. The student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better to be eligible for scholarship renewal.
3. In the unlikely event that there is no qualified application received from one of the schools, both scholarships will be presented to students from the other school. If no applications are received from either school, no scholarships will be issued that year.
4. The scholarship winner will be announced at the school awards ceremony and a check will be presented at that time. Renewal checks will be presented at a regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Sunshine City after the scholar has given a short report on their academic progress.
5. The application must be completed, including four brief essay questions, and signed by the applicant and the Key Club advisor. Additionally, a permanent home address and phone number is requested so we may be in contact with someone who will always know the whereabouts of the scholar. Click the link below for the Application.  The Application is in PDF format. Open it in a "NEW" window...then it can be filled out online, saved, and printed so that signatures can be obtained.
6. Applications must include an appendix listing service hours performed. A minimum of 50 service hours is required to be eligible for consideration. The Key Club advisor must attest to the service hours and sign off on the application. The Service Hour Appendix is attached to the application.
7. Applications can be returned to the club either digitally or by regular mail. Addresses are included on the application. Applications returned by regular mail must be postmarked no later than March 15th. Digital formats must be emailed by 11:59PM on March 15th. To avoid any glitches, we recommend that applications be sent in ahead of the deadline date.
8. All applications will be collected and reviewed by the scholarship committee. The top three applications from each school will be discussed with the Key Club advisor before final selection.
9. Since Kiwanis also sponsors Circle K clubs at the collegiate level, it is the desire of Sunshine City Kiwanis that the scholarship recipient continue their service by joining a Circle K club. Sunshine City Kiwanis will pay the Circle K membership dues for the scholar for four years as a bonus to this scholarship.
